Hey guys, this is Josh Nelson with The Seven Figure Agency. We’re going to shoot a quick video on the topic of perfection. I’ve shot a couple videos here over the last couple weeks just kind of walking you through my video studio, my home office, and some of the basic things you can do to make your video look professional, make it look crisp, right? One of the questions I get often is, well, I guess I need to wait until I have all of that set up perfect before I start to do anything, right? I need perfection, right.
I think that’s one of the worst mistakes people make. They wait for perfection before they take action. If you look at some of our initial videos, the videos we did as we were just getting started in our digital marketing agency, they were terrible. They were really, really bad. Go back to my YouTube channel, look at Plumber SEO and you will see some of the ugliest, worst videos ever shot, and yet, we’ve spent a lot of time improving the quality, improving the professionalism, making sure that it looks good and it’s something we can feel proud of, but we’re constantly improving, we’re constantly changing, we’re constantly iterating.
Say, what’s up, Allen.
Hey, how’s it going guys?
And, I want to encourage you to do the same. If your first version of what you’re doing, isn’t it a little bit embarrassing? You probably did something wrong. No, you don’t have to have the perfect sound quality. No, you don’t have to have the perfect lighting. No, you don’t have to have the perfect backdrop.
If you look back even over the last couple weeks at the videos that I’ve been producing, they’re pretty bad, right, and there were some issues with the lighting, there were some issues with the sound quality and I still did them, right. I still got them done. I still shot them and we still got comments, we still got trajection, we still got positive momentum.
I always believe that imperfect action exceeds inaction any day of the week, right. Whatever you’ve got, if you’ve only got a webcam right now, use that webcam and shoot some videos, create great content. The content and the action is more important than the perfection.
Would love to hear your comments on this, like what’s preventing you from taking action from getting those webinars done, from shooting those videos, from putting out the content? Make a list and then scratch it off because I can really tell you from personal experience that it’s better to do something imperfect then to wait around for perfection because perfection really is never going to come. It’s just a relic that’s out there in the future.
That’s all for now. Go out, take action, get things done. I’m just trying to shoot a video walking through the office a little bit to create some movement for you guys. Say what’s up, Manny.
This is our paper click department.
Nice to meet you guys.
This has come a long way over the years. I shot a video in here couple days ago and I was standing right here talking about paid search and how to maximize the effectiveness of the paid search. It wasn’t very good because the lighting was bad, I was standing too far away from the camera, but it was still a quality video and we still got a lot of comments on it. It’s just a good example of the fact that even if you don’t have the perfect set up, you can still put out content, and you can still position yourself, and you can still have momentum.
The other thing I’m going to say is, like this is my current video studio set up in my office and I would encourage you guys not to put a black background behind yourself because this looks cool in practice, but in reality it creates a little bit of a lighting issue inside the room. So, that’s just something to think about.
I shot a video- Most of you guys work from either a small office or a home office, and I shot a video just kind of like where I walked you through the lights that I use, the camera that I use. In my office, this is a DSLR plugged in to an HDMI output. So, this is more professional grade set up.
My home office, you can set something like that up for about probably like $250, $300. So, if you want to, go back and check that out. It’s pretty cool. I just kind of walk you through some basic tweaks you can make in terms of your lighting, in terms of your sound quality to make great videos.
So, that’s all for now. Hopefully, this message is loud and clear. Go out, take action, get it done, stop making excuses. In action is the biggest problem, right? The best thing you can do is start wherever you are with whatever you’ve got. Get into action and make it happen. Talk to you later.
