I’m tapped out…

I’m so busy doing the work for my clients that I don’t have time to market / sell for myself to land new clients and grow.

I’ve tried outsourcing / hiring but wind up spending as much time checking / reworking what my “team” did so it was actually counter productive.

I’m already working 50+ hours per week and simply can work any harder. I don’t see how I could possibly grow let alone take my Agency to 7 Figures and beyond.

One of the questions I get from digital marketing agencies often is, “How do I scale to the next level? I’ve landed 20, 30 clients. I’m making six figures per year. But I’m stuck. I’m so busy trying to fulfill for the clients that I have and keep them on board that I can’t focus on marketing. And I’m working 40, 60 hours a week just to keep up. I don’t know how I could ever go to the next level. I don’t know how I could build to a seven figure business because I just don’t have the time. I don’t have the ability to do it.”

To me, really the key, the secret to getting to that next level is building systems and building a team. I’m a big fan of Michael Gerber’s book “The E-Myth Revisited”. If you haven’t read it, I highly suggest you go check it out. One of the things he talks about in that book is you don’t really have a business if you have to do it all yourself. If you can’t leave your business for a couple weeks or months at a time, then you don’t have a business, you have a job. So what I’m going to tell you is you probably have built for yourself a bit of a job in your digital marketing agency. And what’s going to free you up is really in two key areas.

First of all, your model. Make sure that your model facilitates scale. And by that I mean are you selling custom projects? Are you selling custom quotes for every single client? Or have you productized and programized your service model where you’ve mapped out for a certain kind of client, “This is what I can do, these are the pieces of the puzzle,” and know that you can get a client, put them through that process and get them a great result on a consistent basis. So that’s one key thing for scale. You got to make sure your business model is set to scale.

The second thing is you have to have systems and people. You can’t do it all yourself. And the key is to figure out what your organizational chart looks like. And that means there are different functions in every business. There’s sales, marketing, accounting, collecting the bills. There’s client fulfillment, account management. Look at your organizational chart right now and then just plug in what you’re currently doing within the company. And probably you’re doing all or most of it. And the key is really to figure out the things that you do best and be able to focus on that. And then find other people that you can plug into those other positions in the company. And I know it’s not easy. And I know that it’s kind of a daunting thought process. But I can promise you, if you do it right, you build out your organizational chart, you build systems and procedures, and you train a team to take over the roles within your company, that’s how you scale. That’s how you can build the seven figures and beyond. And that’s how you can make more money, have more freedom, and have a bigger impact in your life.
